Celebrating Curvy Romance in Literature

You can read it here: Curvy Romances Are Here to Stay

This isn’t just about a nice write-up. This is about something bigger — representation, inclusion, and the power of seeing yourself in a story that doesn’t ask you to shrink. If you’ve ever been told you’re “too much,” “not enough,” or just not “the type” for a happily-ever-after, then you know exactly why this matters.

A Moment of Validation

Let me be honest. Writing curvy romances isn’t always easy. There are times I’ve wondered if the world was ready for characters who don’t fit into the “standard” romance mold. Would readers relate? Would publishers understand? Would anyone care?

And then… this article happened.

To be featured as a voice for change in the genre — to see my books named, my words quoted, my mission understood — was a full-circle moment. It felt like a love letter to the work I’ve been pouring my heart into. It reminded me why I write: not just to entertain, but to heal, to empower, and to show that every body deserves a love story.

More Than Just Books — It’s a Movement

Curvy Romances Are Here to Stay didn’t just talk about my work. It celebrated a whole movement. A shift in the romance world that’s been long overdue.

For too long, curvy heroines have been sidekicks, punchlines, or projects to be “fixed.” But not anymore. We’re writing new narratives. We’re taking up space — unapologetically, joyfully, sensually. And readers are hungry for it. I see it in my messages, in my sales, in the community we’re building together.

This isn’t about body positivity as a trend. It’s about truth. It’s about representation. And it’s about time.

Why I Write the Way I Do

If you’re new here — hi, I’m Sonia Rompoti. I’m an author, a therapist, a mother, and a forever romantic. My books feature curvy heroines, complex emotions, and swoon-worthy, cinnamon-roll or alpha heroes who fall hard and never once ask the heroine to change a single thing about herself.

I write from experience. I write from the stories I didn’t have when I needed them most. I write for the women who want romance that doesn’t require shrinking, starving, or self-loathing. I write because love isn’t size-specific. And because sometimes, a book is the only place you feel seen.

To have that intention echoed in an article by someone who gets it? It means the world.

The Power of Community

Being featured in Rebel’s Books isn’t just a milestone for me personally. It’s a signal that the literary world is listening. That the stories we’re telling — the ones we were once told wouldn’t sell, wouldn’t work, wouldn’t be taken seriously — are finally being celebrated.

This is thanks to you. Every person who’s ever bought one of my books, left a review, shared a post, sent me a message saying, “This character reminded me of me” — you’re the reason this article exists.

You made this happen. And I hope you feel just as proud.

Where We Go From Here

So what’s next? More books, of course. More curvy heroines falling in love without changing a thing. More steamy kisses, emotional plot twists, and endings that feel like warm blankets.

But also — more visibility. More talking about why stories like these matter. More lifting each other up in a world that still tries to tell us to shrink.

If you’re a writer working on your first curvy romance, keep going. If you’re a reader who’s just now finding yourself in these pages, welcome. You’re home.

A Note to Rebel’s Books

To Rebecca Veight at Rebel’s Books — thank you. Truly. Thank you for seeing me. Thank you for shining a light on a genre that’s often overlooked. Thank you for your beautiful words and for choosing to celebrate curvy romance not as a gimmick, but as a legitimate, thriving, emotionally rich category of storytelling.

Your article gave me the kind of encouragement I didn’t know I needed. I’m saving it for the hard days, the doubting days — because we all have them. But now I’ll always have proof that what we’re doing here matters.

And if you’ve ever felt invisible in a world of love stories that don’t reflect your truth — come closer. There’s room for you here. You are worthy of love, of passion, of stories written with you in mind.
