Sunday Mornings, with a Toddler

Lighthouses have always felt like a safe haven, for me. Experiencing the panorama from the top offers me tranquility, introspection, and nostalgia for a life not lived.

Lighthouses positioned on a ‘dramatic’ border between land and ocean, let one synchronize with the tides of the waves. They offer us peace, as they offer us rhythm.

Lighthouses are now sold at very low rates; you could buy one for as low as $10000 and move in. So taking the day off, to share this experience with my baby for the first time, may be one of the best decisions I could make on a Sunday morning.

And let’s not forget that, in the United States, lighthouse keeping was a pioneering government employment for women in the nineteenth century.
